VMAs 08 - sympathy awards?

Oh lord, I've been away from MTV and the radio too long, but what the hell are the VMAs nowadays??

Its as if only crap was produced this entire year but they were forced to have the VMAs..or did I actually enjoy watching this a couple of years back? :D

Linkin Park and Slipknot are classified as rock..I can't even remember the others. I hoped the Verve's Love is Noise would show up - and they send Shia LaBeaof and Slash on stage together?? Did I see Slash giggle in disapproval because Linkin Park won? :D
I hope so, nothing personally against them, but I get annoyed with all these new age metal/electro stuff being defined as rock...

On the other hand it was rather nice seeing Britney looking good..I hope its not all just make up, cause I don't like feeling ashamed and sympathizing with people because they humiliate themselves..I empathize far too much and I was feeling rather uncomfortable about Britney :D

I'm also getting West Side Story vines with all the back alley performances and everything seems to be on a tight budget, but maybe that's because the venue is smaller..

Only thing i liked so far is Rihanna's leather, cropped biker jacket.

I'm also wondering if everyone has gained a bit of weight..I tried changing from widescreen in case my widescreen was expanding people horizontally, but Rihanna has big thighs..I didn't remember them that big! ;D

Christina has had a baby, and Britney..a lot of issues, so i unfortunately doubt the norm has been shifting..

Russell Brand reminds me of the Jack Sparrow character in Pirates..he's kinda cute (you can add a girly giggle to that..)
